In our very first (gameplay) episode of “EarthBound” (1994, SNES) – we name our characters (Ness, Paula, Jeff, and… Poo?!), change out of our pj’s, investigate a meteor crash, beat up some runaway dogs with a baseball bat, make friends with an alien bee, learn about an ancient prophecy from 10 years in the future, explore a creepy dude’s basement, have a run-in with a 5th dimensional photographer, eat a bunch of cookies and a burger that we found in a trash can, randomly gain psychic powers, wage a one-man war against crime, fight our way through an arcade, beat-up Frank the Tank, call our mom, and get a key from the Mayor of Onett!
